No, this is not an wrong thing. Every smartphone brand can do these types of things to generate more options and more profit. But the main thing is that, the user must be aware of these types of strategies of smartphone companies to attract them.

The main advantage of doing this type of business is that, one single company generates many options of smartphones without doing spending extra cost on Research and Development of the smartphone, all they have to do is work on the software, retail boxes and to put different brand logo on the back of smartphone. And in some cases, there is some minor tweaks done, like just camera is changed from a 48 MP to 64 MP.
